Galicia has five main wine regions, all shaped by a cool, Atlantic influence and native grapes:

• Rías Baixas – Famous for Albariño, producing fresh, aromatic, high-acidity white wines with citrus and mineral notes. Coastal and maritime in style.
• Ribeiro – One of Spain’s oldest regions, known for elegant whites from Treixadura, often floral, balanced, and slightly fuller-bodied.
• Ribeira Sacra – Steep terraced vineyards along the Sil and Miño rivers. Best known for Mencía reds: fresh, fragrant, and mineral.
• Valdeorras – Recognized for high-quality Godello whites, combining richness with freshness, plus structured Mencía reds.
• Monterrei – The warmest Galician region, making both expressive whites (Godello, Treixadura) and softer, ripe Mencía reds.
